WTA seeks an experienced fundraising professional to oversee WTA’s annual giving and corporate partnership programs.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to take WTA’s robust annual giving program to the next level, working closely with a dynamic fundraising team to deepen and diversify donor engagement in WTA’s mission. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic perspective to help WTA diversify its donor base and cultivate relationships with a broad spectrum of potential donors. It is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Development Director.
The Annual Giving Manager is responsible for the growth and stewardship of WTA’s giving by individuals, including developing communications strategies and segmented multi-channel campaigns to maximize unrestricted donations from WTA’s general membership (up to $499) and Fireside Circle ($500-$4,999). The position also oversees WTA’s corporate sponsorships and workplace giving strategies. It is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Development Director. S/he should also bring a strategic perspective to help WTA diversify its donor base and cultivate relationships with a broad spectrum of potential donors.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Donor Communications, Campaigns and Appeals
• Oversee and implement cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, upgrade and retention of individual members and donors up to the $4,999 level, maximizing unrestricted giving from individuals and assisting in the growth and retention of WTA’s donor base • Support development of donor-centric communications strategies across WTA’s channels including website, e-mail, social media and print channels • Oversee segmented, multi-channel campaigns and appeals with budgets, objectives, timelines and assessment components. Analyze reports and summarize results. Includes but is not limited to: seasonal and special appeals; upgrade appeals; stewardship pieces. • Create compelling content for direct mail and e-mail appeals, stewardship materials, e-newsletter and other member and donor communications • Oversee and manages member renewal series (direct mail and e-mail) • Oversee member services, ensuring benefit fulfillment and customer service • Oversee stewardship communications connecting donors to WTA’s on-the-ground impact • Collaborate with the development team and Development Director to create robust strategies to prospect and cultivate a donor base that is reflective of the community that WTA serves
• Drive growth of WTA’s Fireside Circle, a giving circle that upgrades donors to the $500+ level, and maintain Fireside Circle renewal rate of 80% or greater • Oversee stewardship of Fireside Circle members, including planning appreciation events and managing process for personalized acknowledgements • Support the Major Gifts Officer in identifying Major Gifts ($5,000+) prospects among the Fireside Circle
•Oversee WTA’s corporate giving strategies, maximizing opportunities for corporate sponsorships, workplace giving and corporate matching.
• Supervise the Donor Relations Coordinator and Donor Stewardship Coordinator
• Oversee “Other Ways to Give” strategies including promotion of opportunities such as stock donations and vehicle donations • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WTA programs and priorities • Actively participate in team meetings, organization-wide meetings, peer evaluations, staff training and retreats • Support donor acquisition efforts, corporate and foundation grant solicitation, and other programs as needed • Track relationships and donor interactions in Salesforce database • Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate must excel at segmenting a large donor base (15,000+) to develop compelling, multichannel communications and fundraising campaigns. You would be a good fit for this position if you have the following skills or experiences: • Proven track record of developing and executing multi-channel campaigns (direct mail, e-mail, web, social media) • Demonstrated ability to develop donor segmentation strategies that connect donor interests to the impact of WTA’s work and opportunities to invest • Prior experience creating strategies to cultivate a robust and diverse donor base • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment to set priorities and execute multiple projects with competing demands • Good supervisory skills, including managing staff to high performance and encouraging individual and team professional development • Strong strategic communication skills, particularly in written materials • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidential donor information • Cultural competency and demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse races, ages, genders, abilities • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, and ability to create efficiencies and build investment in systems • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at all organizational levels, internally and externally • Ability to work a flexible schedule for evening and weekend events and meetings • A commitment to WTA’s mission to help people be explorers, stewards and champions of trails and public lands
The compensation range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000 based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and long-term disability insurance; retirement plan; transit pass; and holiday, vacation and sick leave.
