Action Shots - using photography as an advocacy tool
Join Washington Trails Association and the National Parks Conservation Association for a free evening program with local photographer James Martin.
Photographer James Martin will use examples from his upcoming book Planet Ice to illustrate how photography can be used as an advocacy tool for protecting public lands for future generations. Martin will also share some photography tips and techniques to help you better get your point across in your pictures.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the winning photographs of WTA’s annual photo contest, Northwest Exposure. These photographs are on display through March 27 at NPCA’s Parks Information Center and Gallery.
James Martin, once a guide in the North Cascades and Canadian Rockies, is a writer and photographer based in Seattle. In addition to creating a series of award-winning science books for children, Jim wrote the first comprehensive study of chameleons in 1992, Chameleons: Masters of Disguise with Art Wolfe. His most recent books are North Cascades Crest, Mount Rainier, and Sierra for Sasquatch and Extreme Alpinism with Mark Twight. He has been published in Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, Climbing, Outside, Outdoor Photographer and a host of other periodicals.
