Olympic Peninsula near Lake Cushman. This trail was hammered by fall storms, with over 120 trees across the trail at one point. The Forest Service has mostly cleared the trail of the trees, and now WTA volunteers are needed to address some maintenance needs, including tread repair, drainage work, and some brushing further up the trail.
Join our "Thursday Crew" volunteers to help finish construction on a new multi-use trail. Last year WTA Volunteers completed "phase 1" of the Hardy Ridge Project, officially opening the trail to hikers. We're refining the trail by removing stumps, adding rock walls and bringing the tread up to code.
Northwest WA near Bellingham. WTA will spend a couple of weekends this winter improving several trails within Larrabee State Park. The work will focus on general maintenance including improving drainage in places where the tread is muddy, as well as possible trail realignment.
